Gospel Lk 8:19-21
The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to himbut were unable to join him because of the crowd.
He was told, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside
and they wish to see you."
He said to them in reply, "My mother and my brothers
are those who hear the word of God and act on it."
Did you hear that!? Jesus is your Family, He is yours! Hear his words and act on them. That's it...He is yours. He is that Family member that is always there for you, and you are his loyal sister, mother, and child! He is Yours and you are His. Take time today to hear God's word, and act.
When I was growing up when I would complain to my mom about how it seemed all my friends weren't held to the same standard as me, they didn't seem convicted the way I did, and it wasn't fair, even my "Christian" friends. She would tell me, "To whom much is given, much is expected." Ugh...right? But I knew, I felt God's love when I prayed, It is hard to knowingly disappoint someone that loves you so much. When things got hard, and I would tell my Dad, " I can't do it, it is just too painful, it's too hard, I'm scared." He wouldn't say, "It's okay, I'll help, or you don't have to continue on this path," he would break out the bible and we'd pray for strength and courage! He would pray for strength and courage, My Dad. This was one of the biggest testaments to God's love for me, the strongest most courageous Man in my Life saw God as his Family member that was always there for him. He didn't rely on his own strength, which is precisely why he is so strong.
Jesus, I pray today, for all Families, that they may feel your deep love for them. I pray for all those without Families that they will invite you into their hearts, that they will hear your words, and act on them, so they will no longer feel alone. I know the pain of loneliness, I wish I could take that pain away from your children in need Lord, help me to take up any little crosses today so that I may share in your victorious march of infinite love. Amen
