Gospel
The disciples approached Jesus and said, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven?”
He called a child over, placed it in their midst, and said,
“Amen, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children,
you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Whoever becomes humble like this child
is the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.
And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me.
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones,
for I say to you that their angels in heaven
always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.
What is your opinion?
If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray,
will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills
and go in search of the stray?
And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it
than over the ninety-nine that did not stray.
In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father
that one of these little ones be lost.”

Jesus, sometimes I feel so overwhelmed by own on weakness in raising the children that I have accepted in your name. I fear that my children are learning to imitate my faults more than they are learning to love you. I feel constantly unworthy of this vocation... I know that I can only begin the work of today with you holding my hand and instructing my every action. Please hold my hand today, help me to lead my children to you. Amen
Now that I have little children, I can really reflect on what it means to become as a little child to enter the kingdom of heaven. My children are so little right now, they can barely do anything by themselves...they completely depend on me and trust me to provide them with their needs and desires. They have to communicate every need to me either with outstretched arms, a cry, a "please can I." I too need to be humble like this with my Lord, I need to constantly be aware of my need for Him, I can do nothing on my own, he provides me with everything that I need and that I have.
