Father, Fill me with your Holy Spirit, bless my life today with Peace, Patience, Joy, Love, Gentleness, Self-control, Kindness, Goodness, and Faithfulness. My Family needs me to be all of these and I can not do it on my own. Amen
Gospel Lk 11:5-13
Jesus said to his disciples:"Suppose one of you has a friend
to whom he goes at midnight and says,
"Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
for a friend of mine has arrived at my house from a journey
and I have nothing to offer him,"
and he says in reply from within,
"Do not bother me; the door has already been locked
and my children and I are already in bed.
I cannot get up to give you anything."
I tell you, if he does not get up to give him the loaves
because of their friendship,
he will get up to give him whatever he needs
because of his persistence.
"And I tell you, ask and you will receive;
seek and you will find;
knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives;
and the one who seeks, finds;
and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
What father among you would hand his son a snake
when he asks for a fish?
Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?
If you then, who are wicked,
know how to give good gifts to your children,
how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit
to those who ask him?"
How Powerful!
This Year the theme of our mothers group is the Fruits of the Holy Spirit...found in Galatians 5: 22-23...The fruit of the Spirit is LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF CONTROL. The Fruits of the Spirit are found in the lives of people who have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them...As mothers not only do we want to teach these qualities to our children, we want them in our own lives...but how often have we failed to be these on our own steam. We must recognize that we need the Holy Spirit to give us the power and energy to be all of these things, and God tells us in the scripture today, that all we need to do is ask. A women in our Bible study group brought up some awesome imagery to grasp this...Think of walking into a room filled with wrapped presents with your name on them...instead of being able to open them you were told that these were gifts for each day that you forgot to ask for God's Grace in your Life!
So As you begin your day tomorrow...ask God for the gifts of the fruits of the spirit...maybe one you know you will need during the course of the day...and HE WILL BLESS YOU!:)
