October 24, 2011 You did not recieve a Spirit of Slavery but of Adoption!

Father in Heaven, be my guide, help me to avoid leaning on my own understanding in my job as parent today, help my eyes, ears, mind, and heart be always lifted up to you in your infinite wisdom. Thank you for giving me an earthly Father who has taught me to seek your glory in everything I do.  Thank you for giving me a husband that loves his children so much that when they read your word they will have a glimpse of what it means to be embraced and held close by a loving Father and be able to make the sacrifices required to be a part of this Family. Amen

Reading 1 Rom 8:12-17

Brothers and sisters,
we are not debtors to the flesh,
to live according to the flesh.
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die,
but if by the spirit you put to death the deeds of the body,
you will live.

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.
For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear,
but you received a spirit of adoption,
through which we cry, "Abba, Father!"
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit
that we are children of God,
and if children, then heirs,
heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
if only we suffer with him
so that we may also be glorified with him.
