“Amen, amen, I say to you, you are looking for me
not because you saw signs
but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
Do not work for food that perishes
but for the food that endures for eternal life,
which the Son of Man will give you.
For on him the Father, God, has set his seal.”

I learned early in ministry, that when I provided food for a bible study, that more people came. It was a simple fact, provide a good meal and people will come. I don't think I ever read this scripture that way though...There are some facts about human nature in these scriptures, people first seek food and fellowship...once these things have been provided people look for fulfillment and deeper meaning. I think that is one of the reasons we are called to feed the hungry and provide friendship to strangers. In order to show people that we care about their souls we must first care for their bodies. As a mother I know this now more than ever...the things that prove my love for my family day in, and day out, are the things that mostly address their physical needs. I feed them, I bathe them, I provide clothes, things to stimulate their minds, and also arrange play dates and activities to keep them healthy. Providing these basic needs for my children will help them turn to me for bigger questions and spiritual needs later on, and ultimately to the One who provides for me...Jesus Christ My Lord and Savior.
Jesus, thank you for giving me the tools to physically care for my family, so that we are all free to learn more about you, grow in your love, and give to others. Amen
