Jesus summoned the crowd with his disciples and said to them,
“Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself,
take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it,
but whoever loses his life for my sake
and that of the Gospel will save it.
What profit is there for one to gain the whole world
and forfeit his life?
What could one give in exchange for his life?
Whoever is ashamed of me and of my words
in this faithless and sinful generation,
the Son of Man will be ashamed of
when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Every person has their cross. I get into trouble when I begin to compare crosses with other people. When I feel like I have a bigger cross than my husband or anyone else for that matter. As I am growing closer to God and his love, I have realized a couple of things...
Everyone has their cross, it may not look as heavy as mine, but I am not in their shoes.
Treat everyone with compassion, as I would Jesus.
When I work to help others lighten their cross, it makes mine seem a lot less heavy.
There are so many things to write, given the gospel today...I invite you to add anything that you have to offer about taking up your cross.
Jesus, help me to deny myself today and follow you. Amen
